SAHIMS GIS Data server offers easily accessible standardised data provided by various United Nations, non-governmental organisations and government agencies. Datasets in this catalogue are downloadable without any charge. It can be viewed and manipulated by using most popular GIS software. Metadata is attached to help the user have a better understanding of data sources, applications and copyright.

Disaster Response Data: Flooding in Mozambique and Madagascar
In response to the severe flooding in Mozambique and Madagascar,
SAHIMS has published various data available from our partner organisations. The data aims at supporting disaster response and preparedness in these areas by making country data widely accessible to all humanitarian partners in order to enhance effective planning and monitoring. Datasets include roads, rivers, communes, provinces, etc. and can be downloaded from SAHIMS.NET

The SAFARI 2000 (S2K) An international science initiative to study the linkages between land & atmosphere processes in the southern African region. The website provides interesting data sets for southern Africa.
LandScan 2003 Data comprises of a worldwide population database compiled on a 30" X 30" latitude/
longitude grid. Census counts (at sub-national level) were apportioned to each grid cell based on likelihood co-efficients, which are based on proximity to roads, slope, land cover, nighttime lights, and other information. LandScan has been developed as part
of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Global Population Project for estimating ambient populations at risk.
