IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Universal Access Target Setting Process for
Southern and Eastern Africa
Countries in the region are embarking on improving
methods to attain the goal of Universal Access to treatment,
prevention, care and support by 2010, with the help
of UNAIDS and its co-sponsors. The targets were set
against a list of seven core indicators, related to
treatment, care and support, prevention and national
commitment.
The maps depict the situation, as of April 2007,
in
the ESA region. Most of the countries
have accomplished the process of setting targets for
Universal Access, while a few still need to finalise
their targets by mid 2007.
