The Pan-Africa Humanitarian Information Network (PAHIN) was established in Nairobi in June 2006, as a major outcome of the global Humanitarian Information Management Network. PAHIN is a forum for promoting humanitarian information management best practices, as well as a platform to support advocacy for more resources, capacity development in Africa. A wide continental partnership is needed to address fundamentals information requirements for an effective humanitarian action in Africa. PAHIN is opened to the African humanitarian community. The South African Humanitarian Information Management Network (SAHIMS) has agreed to host PAHIN on its website and provide initial secretariat support to the network. During the first quarter 2007, SAHIMS will deploy a web base set of tools to allow the African humanitarian information community to gather and exchange.

South Africa 10 - 13 April 2007
